Joint Staffordshire CCG's Statement Regarding ONS in Primary Care.

Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent CCG's recommend in all cases of Malnutrition:

1. Appropriate nutritional assessment should be undertaken to assess risk in all patients.

2. Food fortification or over-the-counter nutritional supplements should be advised as firt-line treatment in patients with low/medium nutritional risk.

3. For patients at high risk (or those who fail to achieve the target MUST scores after first-line treatment) should be considered for ONS supplements or dietetic referral as detailed in the guidelines.
